In 2019, Mark and his wife, Stephanie Yancey, founded the nonprofit, community‑based organization Yancey Outreach International, Inc., with the dba’s Yancey Recovery Services and Yancey Christian Recovery Services. Since that time, they have voluntarily dedicated their lives to helping individuals, families, and communities break the cycle of addiction and rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose, providing all services at no charge since 2019.
We understand that finances keep the doors open and the lights on. Donations are accepted, no matter how small. Most often none is given, but when support does come in, it allows us to continue serving clients. However, finances never overshadow our clients, and our clients never overshadow our structure. Our success rate is extremely high because we only serve individuals who genuinely want help. Those who are not ready for change are not allowed to come in and run their own program, as is often seen in other recovery services that are more focused on finances than transformation.
Mark and Stephanie Yancey share a unified purpose: to make high‑quality recovery services accessible and affordable for anyone who genuinely seeks help.
Mark, a native of the Bay Area, was born and raised in Richmond, California. He spent years caught up in street life, criminal activity, and addiction before entering a 12‑month residential recovery home in 1987. With absolutely no relapse since that time, he brings a deep personal understanding of the trials and tribulations of early sobriety. His lived experience, combined with his calm and personable disposition, allows him to provide a comforting, steady, and understanding leadership presence—grounded in real street knowledge and decades of recovery. Mr. Yancey holds a bachelor’s degree in Drug and Alcohol Counseling and a second bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
Stephanie Yancey was born and raised in Oakland, California. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Master of Divinity (M.Div). She previously served as Head Chaplain at the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles, California (Skid Row), providing spiritual care and support to some of the most vulnerable populations in the region. Both Mark and Stephanie are Board Certified Biblical Counselors (BCBC).
Together, they combine professional training, academic excellence, lived experience, and compassionate leadership to serve individuals, families, and communities seeking real, lasting recovery.
Mark and Stephanie Yancey have voluntarily served the homeless and drug‑addicted population for more than 30 years. This dynamic duo brings a rare combination of street knowledge, academic training, and practical application to their recovery services—one of the key reasons for their long‑standing success. In addition to their lived experience and professional education, Mark and Stephanie have both been licensed and ordained in ministry for over 20 years.
They understand that not everyone has religious beliefs, which is why they offer two distinct services. Yancey Recovery Services provides fully secular, evidence‑based treatment with no religious content. Yancey Christian Recovery Services offers the same evidence‑based curriculum, with the option to include biblical discussion for those who request it. The curriculum, structure, and treatment approach are identical in both programs; the only difference is whether clients choose to include Jesus in their conversations.
Both services are highly successful, and Mark and Stephanie count it a privilege to provide effective recovery support in both secular and Christian settings.
